“(I’ve Been) Searchin' So Long

Redmond – the Search firm led by master recruiter Steve Diedrick

In a day and age where the average person changes jobs every few years and has as many as three completely different careers in a lifetime, I’m feeling a bit like James Pankow captured my life in song when he wrote the lyrics to his famous Chicago hit “(I’ve Been) Searchin' For So Long.”

As of 2011, Redmond has been in the Search business for over 20 years, and I can strongly relate to Pankow’s lines. “As my life goes on, I believe somehow something’s changed.”  In fact, I am sure the World has changed in ways that are changing my life, changing me, and changing the Search business.

I’ve been searching so long to find an answer, and am thrilled to report that I’ve finally found it!  The answer to Search today is exponentially greater than what any of us have been doing.  Even the questions have changed.  No more can we afford to ask merely “how can we find great candidates for this or that position?”  To win the global war for talent, we’ve got to be asking questions (oh yeah) that sound more like “how can we build a more innovative and sustainable talent pipeline than our competition?”

No more can we afford to ignore an evolutionary fact Pankow captured so well in his song: Good things in life take a long time.  Strategic adaptations designed to win over the long haul are what the fit do to survive and thrive.

It’s only natural, then, that our search firm would reinvent its Recruiting Strategy and Services after 20 years in the business of attracting and assessing talent.  Finally, we’re taking on a problem worthy of our lives and expertise — to help our clients compete for their lives in a cutthroat global economy by carving out unique sources of the leadership Talent they need to feed innovation and growth.  Now I know my life has meaning, ohhhh.

That’s music to my ears. Hope it is to yours, too!

Searching for you,

Steve Diedrick, Grand Master Executive Recruiter
